Nice to Meet You!

Nice to Meet You!

May 16, 2017

We're so excited to begin sharing Briggs and Little yarn with you! My name is Lacie. I grew up on a sheep farm on the coast of Maine in a family of 7. In my opinion, that's just about the best childhood anyone could have.

For as long as anyone can remember, after a week or so of hot, sweaty, back-breaking shearing, we would wave good-bye to our much appreciative (and cooler) sheep and head to Briggs and Little Woolen Mill in Harvey Station, New Brunswick to sell our wool and trade for yarn. Every summer we would look forward to the day, and as soon as we would walk through the door - the moment we'd been waiting for! - we'd take a deep breath of all that woolly goodness and descend on the rainbow-colored wall of yarn.

The tradition continues, even though we're all grown up now. I live on the other side of the bay with my husband David and our two children. He works as a wharf rat (that's his official title I'm told) on a local wharf and on a scallop dragger in the winter. It's hard and dangerous work to be sure.

If you like random stories about sheepy escapades and Maine life, or knitting patterns and tips, stop in every once in a while!
